The auto market in Pakistan is one of its busiest years ever. The industry trackers estimate that there are about two dozen new vehicle launches between mid-2026 and the end of the year, and that is not an exception anymore, as electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles account for the majority of the pipeline. Chinese competition, local manufacturing and a rising preference for hybrids over petrol cars are changing the face of what consumers can expect to see in showrooms.

Let’s take a look at ten of the most anticipated vehicles in Pakistan for 2026, from affordable crossovers to high-end SUVs.

The Fronx comes in four variants:

    • GL MT — Rs. 5,999,999

    • GLX 6AT (Two-Tone) — Rs. 6,374,999

    Omoda C7

The Omoda C7 is shaping up to be one of the more design-forward entries in the compact-to-midsize SUV space. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid system, with torque figures reportedly topping 500 Nm and an EV-only range of 90-95 km, making it a serious contender for buyers who want hybrid efficiency without sacrificing size.

    Jaecoo J5

The J5 is no exception to Jaecoo reputation for bold, distinctive exteriors, and it designed to appeal to those who want a high-end appearance without a high-end price tag. It will be expected to compete directly with the current wave of mid-range crossovers already established in Pakistan.

    Two variants are on offer:

    • Comfort — Rs. 6,699,000
    • Premium — Rs. 7,699,000

    GWM Tank 500

If you are looking for something more rugged, the Tank 500 adds a hybrid drivetrain to a serious off-road capable package. Local assembly plans will help to make a premium 4×4 more affordable than fully imported units, and will help to make it more affordable than a fully imported unit.

    • Tank 500 HEV — Rs. 20,500,000 (ex-factory), booking amount Rs. 3 million
    • Tank 500 PHEV — Rs. 22,500,000 (ex-factory), booking amount Rs. 3.5 million

    GWM Cannon Alpha

GWM plug-in hybrid double-cabin truck, the Cannon Alpha, is positioned on the pickup side as a plug-in hybrid that combines utility with a more upscale cabin experience. A 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor system that can deliver more than 400 horsepower and up to 750 Nm of torque in the higher trims, which is significantly more than what a typical diesel pickup in this class can achieve.

    BYD Sealion 6

The Sealion 6 is part of BYD SUV expansion in Pakistan, available as an EV and plug-in hybrid. It will be expected to rely on BYD international EV experience to compete with other Chinese players in the same urban SUV segment.

    Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV

The Tiggo 9 PHEV is being marketed as one of Chery flagship models for Pakistan, targeting those who want to have a large, feature-packed SUV but are not ready to make the full leap to an all-electric powertrain. It has a plug-in hybrid system that is intended to provide a compromise between range and running expenses.

    • Ex-factory price: Rs. 13,694,000
    • Booking amount: Rs. 3,000,000

    Hyundai Elantra Hybrid

The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is the sedan model that really shines with its sleek, contemporary design and hybrid technology focused on everyday driving. It is said to be smooth and quiet even in stop and go traffic, which makes it a good choice for those looking for a high-end sedan without the high running costs of a petrol engine.

    Jetour G700

The Jetour G700 is shaping up to be one of the most powerful vehicles on this list. Some reports suggest that the combined power of the 2.0-litre turbo engine and electric motors could reach 900 horsepower and more than 1,000 Nm of torque in the top configurations, making it more of a performance SUV than a typical family hauler, even though it is being sold as a flagship luxury SUV.

    MG IM5 / IM6

The IM5 and IM6 are both fully electric variants of the IM, and are expected to be part of MG EV lineup in Pakistan, where the company is aiming to go all-electric. The launch is part of MG overall plan to gain a foothold in Pakistan nascent EV market with electric vehicles.

What is Means for Pakistani Car Buyers

As a whole, this mix indicates a market that is accelerating at a faster pace than usual toward hybrid and electric vehicles, and that petrol-only models are a smaller percentage of the market future. That is good news for buyers, as it means they have more options in every price range, from budget crossovers to six-figure-dollar luxury SUVs, but it also means many of these models are still unconfirmed on exact launch dates and final pricing.

Those who are thinking about buying one of these vehicles later this year should keep an eye on official manufacturer announcements before making a decision, as several of these vehicles timelines may still change.
