bisp confirms rs. 14,500 kafaalat payment continues through august

The Kafaalat beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme have continued receiving payments. The programme’s standing payment schedule indicates that the disbursement cycle is underway and will continue through August 2026 at a rate of 14,500 per quarter. While the value itself is not new this month, the confusion surrounding an ‘August update’ has brought it back to the fore to confirm the current value as accurately as possible.

What is Actually New (and What Isn’t)

The hikes were announced by BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid from Rs. 13,500. It was 14,500 in March 2026, which coincided with the Kafaalat cycle. 14,500 figure under changing month-specific headlines, giving the impression of a new rise in every month.

There is no confirmed new increase beyond Rs. Specifically for the August 2026 cycle, 14,500. Currently, beneficiaries receiving payments will continue to receive the same amount established in March.

    A Pattern of Increases

The figure of 14,500 is the latest in a series of increases for the Kafaalat stipend, which have been linked to inflation by BISP officials:

    Effective PeriodQuarterly Amount
    Before January 2024Rs. 8,750
    January 2024Rs. 10,500
    Late 2024Rs. 13,500
    March 2026 to presentRs. 14,500

Each time it has been done, it has been preceded by a statement from the leadership of BISP (usually at a public event or a visit to one of the facilities), and then implemented in the following quarterly disbursement cycle.

    Who Qualifies

The eligibility criteria (in addition to the payment amount) are not changed. To be eligible for Kafaalat, applicants will typically need to meet these requirements:

    • Be the female head of their household, as payments are made in the name of the female member of the household
    • Belong to a low-income household as identified through the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER)
    • Hold a valid CNIC
    • Meet the Proxy Means Test (PMT) score criteria set by BISP
    • Not be employed in a government position or receiving a government pension

BISP has two official channels to check the status of payment:

    • SMS to 8171: Send your 13-digit CNIC number via SMS to 8171 for an automated status reply, free on all major networks.
    • Official portal: Visit bisp.gov.pk directly to check registration and payment status online.

No new verification channel has been added for this cycle. Beneficiaries are cautioned against using third-party websites to check their CNIC, as different “CNIC checker” websites available are not linked to the BISP database and serve as filler websites or even pose a data collection risk.

    Where Payments Are Being Collected

As in past cycles, payments are going out via:

    • Designated BISP payment camps
    • HBL Konnect agents
    • Authorized retailer shops connected to BISP’s digital wallet system

The beneficiaries should be present at the point of collection with their CNIC and should undergo biometric verification.

    Officials Reiterate Anti-Fraud Warnings

BISP has reiterated its clear warning that no payment or fee is ever asked for in order to receive Kafaalat payment. Any request made by an individual or message to pay “release,” “confirm,” or “speed” a beneficiary installment should be considered fraudulent and reported via official BISP complaint channels.

What Beneficiaries Should Watch For Next

BISP hasn’t communicated the date it will review the Kafaalat amount next. In the past, such hikes have been announced before the start of a new quarterly cycle, which means a new announcement of a higher rate should be taken with a pinch of salt unless it comes directly from bisp.gov.pk or official statements from the BISP.
