The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi has implemented a number of reforms to create a transparent and merit-based examination process. These include a new one-window complaint mechanism, new measures to prevent cheating and a new paper marking system.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, BISE Rawalpindi Chairman, Professor Dr. Iqbal Mahmood said that the board aims to become one of the best examination boards in the province of Punjab. Ambition was connected with a greater movement towards electronic governance, automation and computer systems.
The board has adopted a “zero tolerance” policy on examination malpractice, Dr. Mahmood says. He said a cheating network which had been running for exams had been successfully disrupted.
The board strategy will always include building public trust and confidence, Dr. Mahmood added, and it is important that examinations be carried out fairly and according to merit.
He explained plans for a 100 per cent digitised and automated system to accelerate the delivery of public services. He said that the board will operate in the future based on data-driven decisions and transparency of process.
The board would also have plans to further enhance its command and control center, enabling real-time monitoring of examination centers, the chairman added in his address. He reiterated that transparency would continue to be a key operating principle for the board going forward.
