Key Responsibilities
As per the official advertisement, this position has a broad range of litigation responsibilities in the bank:
- Being accountable for and supervising the rights and interests of the bank by effectively managing the litigation portfolio in various Business Units such as SME, RFD, ACD, HRG and other categories of litigation.
- Vetting, supervising and assisting with plaints, petitions, CPLA, CP, CA, replications and appeals filed before courts of competent jurisdiction and other judicial/quasi-judicial forums, and issuing Power of Attorney (POA) to external legal counsels.
- To facilitate settling or compromising cases amicably within the legal framework, through vetting, supervision and legal guidance on settlement/compromise agreements.
- Liaising with external counsels regarding proper attendance before courts and defence of the bank’s interests, liaising with Business Units and Relationship Managers to ensure that information and documents are provided to ensure that clear instructions are passed to external counsels on all litigation matters.
- Recommending qualified Lawyers for empanelment and processing of approval notes for defalcated approvals as per legal SOPs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: Minimum LLB or a relevant LLB from an HEC-recognized local/foreign university/institute.
- Experience: At least 9 years of experience in Litigation, Banking Laws, Criminal Laws, and Corporate & Recovery Laws.
- Age: Not more than 55 years on the date of application.
